Cora Jayne Goodrich

I realize this post is a little late. Our computer crashed and we had to send it into the shop to get fixed and with it went all our pictures of little Cora so I had to wait till we got it back. So here she is! Cora Jayne Goodrich joined our little family on July 5th at 6:47pm. She weighed 7lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long. She was born with a ton of dark brown hair and could eat all day long if we would let her. Here's the birth story if you are interested.

2 weeks before Cora was born we went into the hospital thinking I was in labor. I progressed from 3cm to 5cm and then everything just stopped. I was still having contractions every 5 mins but they sent me home since they weren't going any where. For 2 weeks I walked around having regular contractions and was 5cm dilated already. I guess at the practice I was going to they won't help you go into labor until you are 39 weeks pregnant and that's why I went for so long the way I was. Anyway, on the 5th, which was 1 day before I was 39 weeks I went in for a doctors appointment and they couldn't believe I was still pregnant. I begged them to strip my membranes so they went ahead and did that for me. Just a few short hours later I was in labor. After contracting at home for an hour with my contractions 3 mins apart I called the hospital and we were on our way. I called them at 4 so we got there about 4:15 after dropping Evie off at a friends and driving over there. By 5:00 they had my epidural in and I was a happy girl again. Preston and I were talking earlier that day about how I bet I could have a baby without an epidural cause my pain tolerance is seriously high when it comes to labor but why do that when it's free right?! By the time we got to the hospital I couldn't handle the pain anymore. It was just coming to fast. Thank goodness for epidurals! By 5:30 they broke my water and just a little while later at 6:47, with just a couple pushes, Cora was born. She sat so low in there for so long that her poor little nose was so smooched down and crooked. It was pretty funny. We knew it would pop out after a couple hours and it did. Her nose looks totally normal now! Right away she was ready to eat and she hasn't stopped since. You would not believe how much this girl eats. She is 1 month old now and I'm pretty sure she is way bigger than Evie was at this age. She is not the best sleeper in the world but things have already gotten way better and I am learning more about her every day. I have had to cut dairy out again. I did that with Evie to and since I have done that Cora has been sleeping way better. Poor little girl has a sensitive tummy! Evie thinks that she is just the best thing in the world and is such a good little helper. Cora fits right into our family and we are so glad she is finally here!!

Family Picture. I am sad we forgot to get one of all 4 of us in the hospital

look at all that hair!!

 Happy big sister!

Happy Birthday Evie Pie!

Well our little girl is 2! I can't even believe it! Since we knew that Grandma and Grandpa were going to be here just a couple days after her birthday we decided to wait to throw her a party till they got here so these pictures are from our little family birthday party. We did have some of Evie best friends in the world come over for pizza and cake since they were going to be out of town for her party. She was so glad they could make it. It was a very low key day for her. Since her little sister was born just 2 days earlier mom couldn't do a whole lot but Dad took her to the pool and after her nap we had our little party. She was so happy that day. She kept saying to people, "it's my birthday" and when her friends came over she was telling them that we were going to eat "birthday pizza and birthday cake". She was really into it. Man we love this little girl!

Blowing out the candle! She kept asking to do it again. So funny!!
 CHEESE!!!
Her yummy cake. It was fun to make
what a funny little girl. Notice the size of her piece of cake. She ate just about all of it! haha

Things we love about our 2 year old Evie
- she dances like a wild woman. As soon as she hears a song there is no stopping her
-LOVES Elmo and Mickey Mouse
-still calls her milk "nilk"
-the worlds best big sister
-has to have a hair bow in her hair at all times.
-she recently has started to think bugs are gross. She will see a bug, find a towel and stand there so close to picking up the bug just screaming cause she is afraid to grab it. But she tries so hard to be brave enough to grab it.
-loves the pool!!!
-she is a little fish. I can't believe how well she can swim!
-loves babies. Real babies and baby dolls
-can work an iphone as well as I can
-LOVES nursery. Talks about it all week
-has to put her own shoes on every time we leave the house
-calls us by our first names a couple times a day. Preston doesn't care for it to much :)
-still gulps so loud when she is drinking
-loves to play with her friends
-will search through all her diapers which have mickey mouse on them till she finds one that has both mickey and minnie mouse. She only wants to wear the ones with minnie and that is like 1 in 4.
-she loves to race daddy around the kitchen and living room
-thinks popsicles are all she needs for lunch
-loves skyping with her grandparents!
-thinks brushing her teeth is awesome

There are so many more things I could list but I will stop for now. We are crazy about this little girl! It's hard to remember what our life was like with out her in our family. HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY EVELYNN! We love you!

New York, New York

For Mothers Day weekend, which was also my birthday weekend, we went up to New York City. It was a quick 5 hour drive up there, about 30 hours of busy sight seeing and then what seemed like a much longer 5 hour drive home. Evelynn did pretty good the whole time considering she went 2 days with out a real nap and a rough night of sleep in between there. By the time we left Saturday night she was pretty grumpy. The poor girl couldn't get comfortable in her car seat the whole way home either. I felt so bad for her. It took us both about 3 days and a cold each to get over our busy weekend. We had such a good time though. We got to see the Empire State Building and then went to Time Square where there was a guy dressed up as Elmo and scared the crap out of Evie. She will still tell you that she saw a "scary Elmo". What a funny girl. The  next day we went to the 9/11 Memorial and it was my favorite by far. We paid a little extra to take a tour given by a couple who lived there at the time. We had little head sets so we could hear them even when we were chasing Evelynn around which was super nice. Everything in the memorial has a meaning. There are 2 big water falls, each is an acre wide and they drop down twice till you can't see them anymore. The names of everyone lost is around the outside. The trees are all from special place around the country and there is one tree they call the "survivors" tree that stayed standing through both of the towers falling and all the fires there that lasted for 6 months. During a portion of the tour the couple told their story of that day. The man actually worked in the south tower on the floor where the plane hit. When the first plane hit the north tower no one working in the towers really understood what was going on he said. He just decided he was going to go down and check out what was going on and got out in time to survive. Everyone he was working with that day died. Their stories were so powerful and it was really an amazing experience to listen to the passion this couple had for the 9/11 memorial. They were asked why they volunteered to give tours on their time off and they answered because they care about what happened that day and about what the memorial represents. We were there for 2 hours and it seemed like 10 mins. If anyone ever gets the chance to go there, it's worth taking a tour for it! After that we went to the Statue of Liberty. We waiting in some long lines for this. After a while some guy came over and let us skip the rest of the lines because I'm pregnant. There's a good reason to sight see while huge and uncomfortable! I have always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty so it was really awesome to be able to go out there. Evelynn loved the boat ride out there too. Every day she tells me she went on a "water boat". After that we headed back to our hotel to get our car and started our long drive home. It was a really fun weekend and like I said, Evie and I paid for it for a couple days. But well worth it! Hope you enjoy the pictures! I know there are a ton!

In the picture above you can see the new World Trade Center that they are building and then off to the right is the Statue of Liberty. It's very small but it's there!

It was so windy up there!

Little Evie getting some what of a nap at the 9/11 Memorial.
The new World Trade Center. Now the tallest building in New York City
This is a fire station just outside the memorial. The wall was a gift from some bank to the lives lost by the New York City Fire Fighters that day. The families and friends of those who died were able to sign the wall behind this art work before it was attached to the wall.

Time Square M&M world
One of the 2 towers memorials. I forgot to change out my camera lens before we left so I couldn't zoom out any further than this! Bummer!

Happy Easter!

HAPPY EASTER! Here is our cute little girl! Preston's mom sent Evie her Easter dress this year and Evie loved it. Whenever she sees it she tells me "grandmas dress" and we say "that's right, Grandma sent you this dress". At church people tell her they like her dress and she made sure they knew Grandma sent it to her. So THANKS Grandma! We LOVE the dress! I just had to take some pictures of her in it. I hope you like them!!

The day before Easter we were invited to a friends house for their traditional celebrations. We ate food, had and Easter egg hunt, and cracked eggs filled with confetti on each others head. We had a lot of fun. Evie is a pro at finding Easter eggs. She would pick one up, stick it in her bucket and run off yelling "more eggs, more eggs". She got more than some of the big kids did.

Oh the confetti!!! This will forever be one of my favorite memories of Evelynn. She LOVED the confetti filled eggs. Our friends family starts saving their egg shells the day after Easter for the next years confetti filled celebration. I wish I had a picture of how many eggs they had. It was crazy! So they dye them, fill them with confetti and glue tissue paper over the whole. That is a lot of work for about 15 mins of crazy fun. Evelynn was a pro at cracking these eggs. She would squeeze them till they broke in her hand and she would fly that confetti all over the place. I don't know if I have ever seen her have more fun! When Preston and I were out of our eggs she would walk over to all the other adults and ask for "more eggs please". Of course they gave her plenty of theirs too. It was a really fun tradition to be a part of. We are so thankful for wonderful friends who think of us on holidays like this.

The Easter Bunny was so nice and brought Evie a little bike and a golf set this year. The bike is the perfect size for her! She is still trying to figure it out but loves to just sit on it either way!

For Easter dinner we had friends over to our house. I once again didn't get any pictures of it. I don't know how I always forget! We had 5 families over which made for 9 kids. I only had to make the ham and potatoes which is my favorite part about having a bunch of friends over. Everyone brings a couple things and you have an awesome dinner. It was delicious and the company was so fun. We spent a good hour just talking as adults while all our children played nicely together. It was so much fun. We always feel so blessed on holidays to have such great friends while we are unable to be with our families. It was a wonderful Easter thanks to all our friends!

POP POWN

Please ignore my singing voice in this video! Our little girl loves the Popcorn Popping song, or as she calls it "POP POWN", from church! She asks you to sing it with her all day long. This is the only video I have been able to get of her singing it and she is very aware of the camera. She isn't doing her hand motions as well as she normally does but we are glad to have a video of her cute little moments either way. Today I have been thinking of all the little things she used to do that I just loved and she doesn't do anymore. MAN, they grow up quick! She used to make the funniest noise for the lions "roar". It would make anyone laugh and now she makes a really good lions noise. There are many things she does now that make us laugh though. She walks around the house with our shoes on all the time. Whenever Preston comes home the first things she says to him is "Hi Dude" which is funny cause we didn't teach her that. I guess we use the word "dude" a lot. The other day Preston and I were finishing up dinner and Evie brought over her coat and shoes. We put them on her since she is very persuasive these days and she kept saying something we couldn't understand. A couple mins later after she was super frustrated with us we realized she was asking to go play with her "friends". What a funny girl. We just laughed. Everyday I have to prepare her that we may not see our friends that day. She thinks that Daddy has a baby in his belly too and frequently pulls his shirt up and says "hi sister" to his belly. One day she will understand that only mommies have babies in their bellies. She has also become a champ at giving zurbits. Zurbit is a word Preston uses when you blow on someones belly. I thought I should clarify since I had never heard it called that before I met him. When you sneeze she says "bless you" even from the other side of the house. Also when you cough, she drops everything shes doing and asks you if you are "ok" while patting you on the back till you reassure her that you are in fact "ok". There is so much more! She is now 20 months old and we are loving this stage she is in. What a fun girl!

long over due update

I can't believe how long it has been since I updated our blog. I'd love to say it's because we have been so busy but the truth is that we really haven't done much of anything and I think that's why I haven't posted. There's just not much to post about. I was looking at our camera last night hoping there would be some good pictures on there but I guess I haven't taken any pictures since before Christmas! That proves how boring we have been around here. I have taken some on my phone though. They aren't the best pictures but at least its something. We do have some BIG NEWS. We are expecting baby #2 in July. We just found out yesterday that we are having another little GIRL! We were so excited when they told us. We have been hoping for another little girl since this one is due 6 days after Evelynn's birthday so we have everything we need. All the clothes are in the right season even! I was a little surprised because I was sure it was a boy. I made the tech look 3 times to make sure. She said she was 99% sure but I'm still a little nervous. We are very excited. Preston is the cutest Daddy. When the tech asked if we were happy having another girl he told her, "yeah. I love girls. I would be happy with all girls." He melts my heart! I love to just watch him play with Evie on the weekends. Neither one of them look any happier than when they are together. Of course they both love me too so don't be worried about that. It will be super fun to have another girl around here.
Preston didn't want to take this picture. He thinks we look really lame but I wanted to post it for our children to see in the future. Can't wait to meet you Baby Girl #2!!

Here are some fun things about Evie
-weighs 22.4 pounds. She is 25th percentile on weight and height.
-She loves to dance. She will do it for just about anyone
-She says her name now. When you ask her what her name is she points her little finger to her chest and says Evelynn very clearly. It is so cute!
-We babysit a friends kids a couple days a week right now and she has become really good friends with a little boy name Ethan. She calls him E E and they are best buds. I have some funny videos of them together but they are so hard to post on here so I don't think I will post them.
-Evie still LOVES her baby dolls. They are by far her favorite toy. We have left out all her baby stuff like her swing and bouncer cause she passes her baby through all of them all day long. Yesterday I noticed that she now calls her baby doll Emily. One of the kids we babysit is a 8 month old named Emily. I love that she has named her baby! She is so cute!
-When she wants something she tells you to "open it"
-She can work her way around my phone almost as well as I can
-She goes to nursery now and HATES it. The nursery leader is a good friend of ours and whenever Evie sees her no matter where we are she starts to freak out and wont leave my side. lol sad but sooo funny!
-She hands out free kisses all day long. I LOVE IT!
-knows all her animals and their noises
-Still loves Tonka. If he isn't in the same room as her she yells and yells for him till he shows up and then she is fine.
-Loves to skype with Grandmas and Grandpas. When ever she sees the computer she thinks that is what we are going to do.
-she LOVES buckles. We recently put her in a booster seat at the kitchen table and she can sit there for and hour buckling and unbuckling the buckles.
-she loves showers and brushing her teeth
Here are a couple random pictures I found on my phone of her.

Here are a couple pictures of us at Prestons work christmas party. Evie really didn't like Santa at all!!

Here are just a couple picture on Valentines Day. A friend of ours threw a Valentines Day Party for all the younger kids who don't go to school. There were balloons on strings all over and Evie LOVED playing with them.We decorated cookies and cupcakes and had lunch. It was so fun! I think Valentines Day will be one of our favorites from now on!

Evie got her first haircut this past week. We really only cute a couple centimeters off but she liked it regardless. Now every time we are in the kitchen she wants to sit on the stool and have me put the cutting cape on her. To bad she doesn't have more hair so we can do it more often.
